EXHIBITION DESIGN: PRINCIPLES and PRACTICE

This webinar will be an occasion to bring the notion of exhibition design closer to a larger audience.

The first part will explore the issues such as:

  • The process of creating exhibitions
  • The role of an exhibition designer
  • Principles of the exhibition design:

– Respect and valorization of art pieces

– Relation to the exhibition space

– Attention to the visitors

In the second part we will lead you along our creative process through completed exhibitions such as:

  • Edward Hopper, Grand Palais, Paris
  • The Etruscans and the Mediterranean, Louvre Lens
  • The Al Thani Collection : Paris – Venice – Beijing and others.

Iva Berthon Gajšak is an architect and exhibition designer currently living and working in Paris within the BGC STUDIO architectural and exhibition design practice, founded together with Giovanna Comana.

bgc studio, architecture and exhibition design practice based in Paris, was created in 2009 by Giovanna Comana and Iva Berthon Gajšak, architects with multidisciplinary skills oriented towards cultural projects. 
Exhibition design is soon becoming the preferred field of the practice and is reflected in numerous projects in collaboration with the most prestigious institutions, including the Réunion des musées nationaux and the Grand Palais, the Petit Palais, the Cluny Museum, the Guimet Museum, the Institut du Monde Arabe, the Picasso Museum, the Musée des arts décoratifs, the Cartier Foundation or the MuCEM.
The international experience of bgcstudio includes projects in Italy, in Morocco, in the United Arab Emirates at the Louvre Abu Dhabi and in China, in Shanghai as well as in the Forbidden City of Beijing.
The ambition of the practice is to offer a unique and relevant response for each project, to create a singular universe that arouses emotions and to accompany in the most appropriate way a varied public.

Who we are, what we do?

Studio RU:T is a multidisciplinary design studio founded in Zagreb, Croatia by Tvrtko Bojić and Karla Paliska, who have been working together since 2015. They specialize in product and industrial design, visual communications, spatial concepts and interventions. In their work they focus on practical and sustainable solutions, as well as experiments that question the concepts of living.

  • Helena Alfirević Arbutina – has graduated on Architecture School, University of Zagreb and has Ph.degree from Achitecture School at TU Graz in Austria. Helena has over 20 years of experience in numerous architectural projects as well as in the interior design projects with the accent on the residential design.
